Announcements

It's time for our annual membership drive!  We are recruiting new grower members, new community members, and new retail members with an emphasis on community members.  Our goal is to have 400 community members by the end of 2008!  Check out our membership page for more details on how you can help us grow.

The Local Growers Guild will be sponsoring a Farm to Table Dinner on Friday, November 14th at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bloomington.  Tickets are $35 for a four-course meal featuring local ingredients prepared by Harvest Lodge Catering.  Hear stories from local farmers, learn more about the Local Growers Guild, and enjoy a delicious seasonal dinner.  Tickets are available through our website, at Bloomingfoods, and at Wandering Turtle Art Gallery.

This dinner is part of a larger event entitled "Simply Healthy: Local Food and Aging Well."  We are especially excited about the keynote speaker, Judy Wicks, who will be giving a free lecture at 7:00pm on Thursday, November 13th at the Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington. Judy Wicks, owner of White Dog Café, Bioneers plenary speaker, and founder of the Business Alliance for local Living Economies (BALLE) will speak about the importance of creating local, living economies to support sustainable communities.  Activities will continue on Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church with a variety of workshops focused on simple living, holistic health practicies, eating well, and aging well.  Tickets are $11 ($9 for students and seniors).  The grand finale will be a Healing Sounds Concert on Saturday night featuring native american flutes, storytelling, tribal dancing, and much more.  Tickets to the concert are $11 in advance, $13 at the door.  For more information, visit the Simply Healthy website.
